United Group is proud to celebrate Kevin Spinner, Maintenance Project Manager of the Parkstead Properties, on reaching his five-year milestone with the Company!
Kevin joined United Group in September of 2021 as a Maintenance Technician at Parkstead Watertown at Black River and has continued to grow with the Company along the way! In May of 2022 he was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor at the property. Today, Kevin serves as Maintenance Project Manager of the Parkstead Properties, where he supports the daily operations across the properties, works closely with site teams to address maintenance needs, coordinates projects, and ensures everything runs efficiently.
Throughout his time with United Group, Kevin has been a dedicated and valued member of the team. Kevin consistently demonstrates a commitment to the success of the teams and properties he supports, and we are grateful for the dedication, hard work, and positive impact he brings to United Group each day.

Questions
1.) Take us back to day one! What was it like? What do you remember about your first day?
There are actually two things that I remember quite vividly on my first day. The first thing I remember is having to work with and near civilians. After 27 years working in prisons, that was going to be a big change! The second thing I remember is doing Grace Hills Sexual Harassment Prevention and Fair Housing trainings and realizing that there was a lot more to maintenance then just fixing things.
2.) Walk us through a typical workday!
A typical day isn't usually typical. One day I could be working on Nspire items, the next I could be traveling to help another site out of state. The day after that I could be putting new brakes on a work truck, shoveling snow, mowing lawns, getting quotes from vendors or coordinating with a construction company to get repairs done at one of my sites. The variety of work duties makes the job fun and interesting.
3.)What is your favorite memory (so far) from your time at UGOC?
One of my favorite memories so far is the time the Parkstead portfolio all went on an Uncle Sams boat tour around the 1000 Islands for maintenance appreciation. During the tour, we ate a buffet dinner and also got to explore the beautiful Bolt Castle. I had always wanted to go before but never had the opportunity.
4.) What advice would you give yourself reflecting on the last 5 years?
I would tell myself to work hard and continue to learn as much as possible.
5.) How has your role changed over the years? (If at all possible)
I started out as a Maintenance Technician at Parkstead Watertown at Black River. I was offered the position of Maintenance Supervisor for the site and gratefully accepted. After approximately 2 years as the supervisor, the position of Area Maintenance Supervisor opened up. The position was modified and posted. I applied and went through the interview process and was picked to fill the role that I now hold of Maintenance Project Manager. I'm glad my career has turned out like it has because I enjoy my job and like working with my coworkers.
