Benefits & Wellness

In every phase of our business, the benefit of those around us is our highest priority—which is why we work so hard to care for our employees’ health and wellness.  As part of our commitment to them, we provide:

  • Monthly health education in the form of newsletters, seminars, and wellness events. Topics have included ergonomics, stress and time management, healthy holiday eating, and skin care.

Our competitive benefits for our full-time employees include medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, as well as traditional and supplemental life insurance. We also offer additional supplemental insurances to work in conjunction with our current Plans; Critical Illness, Accident and Cancer Insurances by a national carrier. A Health Savings Account (HSA) allows an employee to set aside pre-tax dollars from their pay to cover eligible expenses for themselves and eligible dependents.

Employees are invited to participate in the United Group 401(k) retirement plan after one year of employment and upon their quarterly entry date.  United has a Safe Harbor program and provides for a dollar for dollar match on the first 3% an employee contributes and fifty cents on the dollar on the next 2% an employee contributes to the Plan.  Employee’s defer 5% of their wages, the Company matches 4% towards their retirement.

United Group has partnered with the College Tuition Benefit program, so while our employees are saving for their retirement, we help put their children through college. This unique program provides Tuition Rewards which are based on the employee’s 401(k) balance each year. Those rewards are a dollar reduction in tuition at participating colleges and can pay for up to one (1) year of college tuition.

Delivering the Promise: Training

Continuing education is a key part of our commitment to our people. Employees engage in regular training throughout their careers with us, and we encourage them to continue their education on their own through our Tuition Assistance Program.

Site-level employees have programs tailored to their responsibilities. Training courses are required as part of the new-hire on-boarding process; then, employees complete annual sessions in such topics as fair housing, sexual harassment, workplace diversity, safety, as well as training in our web-based property management software. Our goal is that our employees will become leaders, not just for United Group, but throughout the field of property management.

Courses and credentialing are also available through United Group’s membership with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), which offers the ability to earn the Accredited Residential Manager (ARM®) and Certified Property Manager (CPM®) designations.
