We had the opportunity to commemorate Gene Gilbo's remarkable 20-year journey with United this past November and this new year affords us an opportunity to reflect on the legacy he has left to us all. Gene wasn't just a colleague, a friend, or a mentor – above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished papa. Gene embodied the quintessential family man.
Embarking on his professional journey at Truscott Terrace, now recognized as Parkstead City Center in Watertown, NY, Gene's indelible mark on those around him inspired the decision to honor his memory with the construction of a Pavilion at Parkstead City Center. The choice of a Pavilion is symbolic, echoing Gene's distinctive fondness for being surrounded by loved ones during cookouts and gatherings. Gene's welcoming spirit knew no bounds; he never turned anyone away from his table, readily embracing new members into his ever-expanding family. The Gene Gilbo United Family Pavilion, set to commence construction in Spring 2024, serves as a tangible representation of this inclusive of Gene’s sprit and character. It is a place where all can congregate, fostering the same sense of togetherness that Gene cherished.
As we embark on the construction of the Pavilion, we anticipate a dedication ceremony in Spring 2024, uniting Gene's family and friends to celebrate his legacy.
