May 5th marked a very special occasion for UGOC as we celebrated Gene Gilbo, our beloved Parkstead Area Maintenance Supervisor, on his 20th work anniversary. For two decades, Gene has been an integral part of our team, ensuring that our Parkstead communities are the best they can possibly be. His commitment and dedication to his work have not gone unnoticed, and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have had him as a part of our organization for the last 20 years.
Gene has been a consistent and reliable force in our communities. He has always been willing to go above and beyond his duties to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Whether it's fixing a leaky faucet or tackling the endless amount of snow that seems to pummel the greater Watertown area, Gene is there. His positive attitude and cheerful demeanor make him a joy to work with, and he truly embodies the spirit of teamwork.
Gene's work ethic and attention to detail have not only made him an asset to our team, but also to our residents. He takes pride in his work, and it shows in the quality of his output. Our residents appreciate his responsiveness, his willingness to listen, and his ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
As we celebrate Gene's 20th work anniversary, we want to express our gratitude for all that he has done. His dedication, hard work, and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on our communities, and we are lucky to have him as part of our team. Congratulations, Gene, on this milestone achievement, and here's to many more years!
A look back at the last 20 years:
What do you remember from your first day?
I was hired as a Maintenance Technician at Truscott Terrace, now known as Parkstead City Center. We were under the 20-year lease at that time, so I was kept very busy turning many units for the soldiers and their families.
What have been the biggest changes in your life (personally and/or professionally) within the last 20 years?
Over the past 20 years my family has grown from having 4 children to having 10 grandchildren. I am a blessed man!
What are some of your favorite UGOC memories?
The company picnic days at Lake George and the great people I have had the privilege to meet along the way!
Are you still in the same role? Walk us through your UGOC progression!
I have had many roles within the company: Maintenance Technician -> Maintenance Supervisor -> Regional Site Manager -> Operations Manager -> Area Maintenance Supervisor.
What advice do you want to give yourself now, after working for the United Group for the past 20 years?
Work hard and love your family even harder. Your future is created by what you do today!
