Join us in celebrating Doris Lawson, Porter at The Gardens of Annapolis, for reaching her five-year milestone with United Group! Doris joined the Gardens of Annapolis team in 2019 and is responsible for upkeeping the Maryland property and tending to residents as needed.
Doris’ dedication to her team, the company, and the residents at The Garden of Annapolis residents is evident in her everyday work and we are delighted to celebrate her.

Questions:
1.) Take us back to day one! What was it like? What do you remember about your first day?
It was exciting! The first time I worked in this industry. The people were nice from day one which is good because I am a people person.
2.) Walk us through a typical workday!
Well, I come in, open/turn on the buildings, and make coffee for each building. I walk the grounds, clean the buildings, and work on maintenance tickets. The most fun is the interactions with the residents.
3.)What is your favorite memory (so far) from your time at UGOC?
When I first started working here my cousin did as well so it made coming to work a lot of fun. Also, the residents make you feel like they are your family.
4.) What advice would you give yourself reflecting on the last 5 years?
Better preparations for assisting the residents. Understanding the demographics' wants and needs.
5.) How has your role changed over the years? (If at all possible)
Oh my lord, I’ve done it all. I have done housekeeping, bus driver, painting, maintenance, plumbing (small things), package and food delivery, and enjoying the residents!
