UGOC Spotlight: Janaya Hogan Celebrates Five Years!

United Group is proud to celebrate Janaya Hogan, Community Assistant at College Suites at Washington Square, on reaching her five-year milestone with the Company!

Janaya joined United Group in 2021 as a Community Assistant at College Suites at Washington Square and has been a dedicated member of the team ever since.

Over the past five years, Janaya has consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, strong commitment to residents, and a willingness to go above and beyond to support her community. Her dedication, reliability, and team-first mindset have made her an invaluable part of the Washington Square team and the United Group family.

 Questions 

1.) Take us back to day one! What was it like? What do you remember about your first day?
On my first day working at College Suites at Washington Square, I was definitely nervous, but I was also excited to begin something new. Meeting the staff was an incredible experience. They immediately showed me what it truly means to be part of a community, not just a workplace, but a team and a family.

2.) Walk us through a typical work day!
A typical workday begins with greeting both staff and residents. From there, I head to the front desk, where I focus on lead management in Entrata and complete OneDay videos. Throughout the day, I also assist the Assistant Property Manager with social media ideas and content. The remainder of my shift is spent helping residents and completing any additional tasks that are assigned.

3.) What is your favorite memory (so far) from your time at UGOC?
One of my favorite memories so far has been our recent Thanksgiving event for the residents. The teamwork, dedication, and sense of community displayed by both the staff and residents made the event feel like home. It was especially meaningful to create a welcoming environment for students who were away from their families during the holiday, helping them feel comfortable, supported, and at peace.

4.) What advice would you give yourself reflecting on the last 5 years?
I would tell myself to continue embracing my creativity and to always stand firm in my foundation. Staying true to who you are while remaining open to growth can take you further than you imagine.

5.) How has your role changed over the years? (If at all possible)
My role as a Community Assistant has grown tremendously. I've become much more confident in building relationships within our community, and I've taken on the important responsibility of helping ensure our residents feel safe, secure, and supported in their home away from home.
