UGOC Spotlight: John Peterson Celebrates 40 Years

United Group is proud to recognize John Peterson, Senior Vice President of the Finance Department, for celebrating his 40-year work anniversary with the Company. John has been working at United Group since 1984 and continues to help grow United Group's finance portfolios. 

During John’s forty years of service, his skill and diligence have been crucial to United Group's success. John truly provides a wealth of information to everyone at United Group and we are happy to celebrate him.

1. ) What about United Group keeps you coming back year after year?

The people.  Over all the years the most enjoyable reason to show up every day is the people I work with. Throughout the years United, employees have always jumped in to lend a hand accomplish our goals.

2. ) What memories have you cherished the most out of your 40 years with United Group? 

While Walter’s sudden passing was a very downer moment, the reaction of the United family to pitch in and keep the ball rolling and moving forward was positive during a dark period.

3.) In what ways have you seen the company grow and evolve?

When I started, I think we had 21 employees in the main office. Surprisingly only 3 were in the accounting department and HR was an afterthought.  My onboarding probably took 5 minutes.  For me, 40 years ago was the first time I had a computer to figure out how to use, and those were the days of floppy disks and Lotus 123.

4.) What advice would you give your first day of work self after working for United Group for the past 40 years?

Be ready for anything and everything!
