Questions:
1.) What about United Group keeps you coming back year after year?
It depends on which first day you’re talking about. As a CA, I remember trying to get through training and learning a lot, while nervously taking phone calls and not being great at it.
As for day one as an APM, I was overwhelmed; it wanted to consume me, but taking a deep breath and praying, remembering everything I’ve learned from being a CA up to that point, (as crazy as it sounds), helped me to calm down and remember these are things that I’ve already been built to handle. The one new thing I do remember doing that day is talking to an international advisor who helped Vietnamese students transition a bit more easily into a school and housing. The appreciation shown after their lease was up, it was truly rewarding.
2.) What memories have you cherished the most out of your 5 years with United?
A typical workday is getting up, coming in, praying, and being so thankful for another opportunity. As I make my way to the office, I assess the condition of the building. Once I get to my desk, it's pretty much about putting out any small fires that happened after hours the day prior (speaking figuratively, of course), taking calls, and having conversations with residents who come in and out of the office to assist in any way I can.
3.) In what ways have you seen the company grow and evolve?
It’s hard to choose one when you’re grateful for so many, when you have been blessed with so many. The first one that comes to mind is all the properties being in Hudson Valley, not only for training, but also for playing trivia against each other and conversing and joking with one another. Seeing not only everyone’s beautiful minds and what they bring to the table for this company, but also their God-given personalities shining through those moments, is truly a beautiful thing.
4.) What advice would you give yourself, reflecting on the last 5 years?
God Is Real. Trust Him. Get to know Him. Remain close to Him. Everything else will come after.
5.) How has your role changed over the years? (If at all possible)
I don’t really feel like the role has changed, just the title. Watching over the people, the building. Which is the same. The people make up the building.
