UGOC Spotlight: United Group celebrates the official grand opening of City Station North II, LLC

Troy, NY – United Group developers were joined by city and state officials, development partners, Troy business leaders and more Friday to celebrate the official grand opening of City Station North II, LLC (City Station North), downtown Troy’s premier mixed-use, Class A development consisting of multi-family apartments (The Six at City Station) and Class A Office Space (The Station) over garage parking.

The event, which kicked off at 11 a.m. Friday, allowed area residents, political leaders, and community stakeholders to tour the newly constructed mixed-use community.

“City Station North represents more than just a new building,” United Group’s Chief Operations Officer Michael DiGiacomo said. “It represents the continued investment and growth here in the city of Troy and is another important step forward for the City Station Neighborhood and the community that continues to grow around it.”

“Listen, I’m bias but Troy is the place to be, and everyone knows it,” Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello adds. “We are incredibly grateful for your continued investment and we’re especially grateful that you decided to move your headquarters here as well. That says a lot about the confidence that you have in our city.”

City Station North span 174,599 gross square feet of downtown space along Congress Street and 6th Avenue. The four-story building consists of 87 one- and two-bedroom Class A apartments, 40,000 square feet of Class A office space, 154 gated on-site covered and surface parking spaces, and a host of community and building amenities including a rooftop terrace with a fire pit and barbeque grills, energy-efficient smart heating/cooling systems, a state of the art fitness center, a multipurpose aerobics/yoga room, private balconies with sliding glass doors, high-speed internet in common areas and more. The project is the fourth phase of a multi-phased development designed to bring revitalization into Downtown Troy. Across United Group’s four City Station projects, City Station West, South, East, and North, the company has invested more than $100 million into Troy helping to turn the East corridor into an appealing entryway into the heart of the city.

“We opened up in April and were thrilled to take the top two floors in the building,” United Group’s President and CEO Michael J. Uccellini said. “We’ve been able to recently lease the second floor to Venture X which is a coworking space. We’re really excited about that.”

Venture X, part of the VAST Coworking group, will offer working professionals a flexible alternative to the traditional office space. The downtown Troy location will provide area professionals with access to a dedicated workspace closer to home, while adding another amenity for the city’s growing business community. United Group plans to begin construction of the space in December, with the project slated for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

City Station North II was developed in an opportunity zone. United Group worked in partnership with the Empire State Development, which provided a $1.7 million capital grant recommended by the Capital Regional Economic Development Council, and the Troy Industrial Development Agency on the City Station North project.
