Questions
1.) What about United Group keeps you coming back year after year?
What has kept me here for 20 years is that United Group has always invested in my growth. I started as a Work Order Receptionist, and over the past 20 years I've had the opportunity to grow into an Operations Administrator, Property Manager, Senior Property Manager, Area Manager, and now Regional Manager. My career is proof that the company believes in developing its people and promoting from within.
2.) What memories have you cherished the most out of your 20 years with United?
The relationships are what stand out the most. I've had the privilege of working with so many amazing people, many of whom have become lifelong friends. Watching employees grow in their careers, mentoring future leaders, and celebrating their successes has been incredibly rewarding.
There have also been so many memorable milestones, opening new communities, overcoming difficult challenges together, earning promotions, and watching properties transform through renovations. Those moments remind me that success is never achieved by one person. It's built by great teams working toward a common goal.
3.) In what ways have you seen the company grow and evolve?
The changes over the last 20 years have been incredible. When I started, we signed in every morning on a clipboard, tracked payroll in spreadsheets, dispatched maintenance with pagers, and worked in an MS-DOS system called AMSI. At the time, it was the norm. Looking back now, it feels like a different era.
Today, we have Entrata, mobile technology, electronic work orders, real-time reporting, and tools that help us serve our residents faster and more efficiently. It's been exciting to watch the company embrace new technology while continuing to grow its portfolio and invest in its people.
The one thing that hasn't changed is our commitment to our residents. We've evolved with the times, adapted to new challenges, and continued looking for better ways to serve our communities. I'm grateful I've had a front-row seat to watch that evolution over the past 20 years.
4.) What advice would you give your first day of work self after working for United Group for the past 20 years?
Don't be afraid to ask questions or take on opportunities that seem outside your comfort zone. Every challenge will teach you something valuable.
Build relationships because people will become the most rewarding part of your career. Stay curious, be willing to learn, and remember that your reputation is built through consistency, integrity, and how you treat others.
Most importantly, enjoy the journey. Twenty years will go by faster than you think, and every experience, even the difficult ones will help shape the leader you become.
